Mount Galiano, 27 Sep 2015

If you’re on Galiano Island, then it’s well worth taking the time to visit the summit of Mount Galiano. Would I make the ferry journey just for this hike? No, it’s not worth that, but it may be if combined with a visit to the Bluffs for its great views of Active Pass. Mount Galiano is a simple hike – the trail is straightforward and a pleasant walk, especially on the higher sections.

The view from the summit is fantastic, looking over the southern Gulf Islands and over to the Olympics, and invites you to sit down and lounge in the sun for hours. We could have spent all day here from sunrise to sunset. Alas we were in a hurry as we had a ferry to catch, so we hoofed it up in about 40 minutes.

Distance: 6 km
Elevation gain: 300 m
