Being Outdoors, January 2023

7 Jan 20237 Jan 2023 ~ AndyG ~ 2 Comments

Welcome to a new year! 2022 seemed to pass so quickly... Hope you all had a peaceful and relaxing holiday season and that 2023 brings many great adventures! If we were being outdoors today I'd be looking longingly at the North Shore mountains as it's been a few weeks since we were last up there … Continue reading Being Outdoors, January 2023

Being Outdoors, December 2022

Well we've made it to the final month of the year and the shortest days are upon us again. Snow is beginning to take hold in the mountains and we're looking forward to snowshoe season. And yes, that means we still haven't used those shiny new snowshoes that we bought last month, which means we … Continue reading Being Outdoors, December 2022

It's been exactly four weeks since we were last in Stanley Park and in that time Spring has definitely begun to take hold. We did a very similar 7.5-ish km loop around the park, from Third Beach along the seawall to Lost Lagoon, then across to Coal Harbour and north past the aquarium to the … Continue reading Vignette: Stanley Park, 26 Mar 2022

Well, so much for that rain-free gap as big, solid … Continue reading Vignette: Stanley Park, 7 Mar 2021

A gem of a park, a winter favourite, an easy way to absorb a couple of hours. A pileated woodpecker dining on fruit, robins watching on. Flocks of pine siskins bursting from the trees in great clouds, photos showing them tucking their wings making them look more like fish than fowl. A bald eagle alighting … Continue reading Vignette: Stanley Park, 21 Nov 2020

A selection of quieter, atmospheric images taken on my bike rides into work during January. Nothing spectacular but they all speak to me in some way.
A starry Saturday night on Mount Seymour. An afternoon hike saw us catching a hazy sunset from the summit and then being entranced by the stars and planets on show as we made our way back down. We paused awhile at Brockton Point to trace the constellations and take some photos, the best of which is shown here. Or at least part of it: swipe for a different part of the scene and the full photo.
It's all a matter of perspective...
Eight days in the South Chilcotin mountains - part 2. If you want to read more and see more photos, the link to my summary blog post is in my bio.
It's taken me months but I've finally written up the summary of our superb week of backpacking in the South Chilcotin mountains - link in bio.
