Being Outdoors, January 2023

7 Jan 20237 Jan 2023 ~ AndyG ~ 2 Comments

Welcome to a new year! 2022 seemed to pass so quickly... Hope you all had a peaceful and relaxing holiday season and that 2023 brings many great adventures! If we were being outdoors today I'd be looking longingly at the North Shore mountains as it's been a few weeks since we were last up there … Continue reading Being Outdoors, January 2023

Skywalk North, 27 Jul 2019

11 Aug 201919 Jan 2021 ~ AndyG ~ 4 Comments

Opinion This might be a new contender for the best trail in the Whistler area. If not then definitely in the top 5. A steady climb is followed by some sublime sub-alpine wandering through pocket meadows that always invites you to see what's around the next bend or over the next rise, culminating in a … Continue reading Skywalk North, 27 Jul 2019

Hanging Lake, 29 Jun – 1 Jul 2019

4 Jul 20194 Jul 2019 ~ AndyG ~ 3 Comments

Opinion A great option for a quieter and tougher hike, though not recommended for beginners, and it probably shouldn't be your first backpacking trip of the season! Don't be fooled by the modest stats to the lake as the trail has a fair few obstacles, including boulder fields and fallen trees, and uphills on the … Continue reading Hanging Lake, 29 Jun – 1 Jul 2019

Rainbow Lake, 25 Aug 2018

26 Aug 201827 Aug 2018 ~ AndyG ~ 2 Comments

Opinion A superb updated trail makes this hike a really good workout alternative to Garibaldi Lake. Certainly Rainbow Lake isn't as spectacular but on a clear day it has some great views, especially from the pass between Rainbow and Hanging Lakes. Today was cloudy and misty, with almost no views at all but it made … Continue reading Rainbow Lake, 25 Aug 2018

Crater Rim Trail, 22 Oct 2016

30 Mar 201821 Dec 2018 ~ AndyG ~ Leave a comment

Opinion A very nice little hike, especially at this time of year when it's quiet. A pretty lake, interesting geology, gorgeous open, mossy forest, and a couple of great viewpoints make this a little gem of a trip, especially as it only needs a couple of hours. Fact The trailhead is easily accessible by low-clearance … Continue reading Crater Rim Trail, 22 Oct 2016

A selection of quieter, atmospheric images taken on my bike rides into work during January. Nothing spectacular but they all speak to me in some way.
A starry Saturday night on Mount Seymour. An afternoon hike saw us catching a hazy sunset from the summit and then being entranced by the stars and planets on show as we made our way back down. We paused awhile at Brockton Point to trace the constellations and take some photos, the best of which is shown here. Or at least part of it: swipe for a different part of the scene and the full photo.
It's all a matter of perspective...
Eight days in the South Chilcotin mountains - part 2. If you want to read more and see more photos, the link to my summary blog post is in my bio.
It's taken me months but I've finally written up the summary of our superb week of backpacking in the South Chilcotin mountains - link in bio.
